LDJAM 43: A Post Mortem

This is probably the first time that I've not completed a jam because of my mental state, which is certainly something because I can generally focus pretty well.

From the on-set of this I had an idea of what I wanted to make, what the end product would have been. The thing that I was going for was more of a slow relaxed puzzler sort of game, something you'd take your time with and just relax  to.

As you can see, it worked to a certain point and the general gameplay looked pretty good.

If I was in the right frame of mind I'm pretty sure I could have made something really good from this, on the Saturday I was feeling pretty good about it and myself.

Then Sunday rolled around...

I woke up not really feeling like anything really, I certainly wasn't in the frame of mind to code anything, do any art, nor audio. I'm not sure what kind of place I was in, but I knew I wasn't in the right frame of mind for game development or any creative work at all.

Thinking back on it, I was probably feeling depressed about who knows what, 'cause I certainly don't know why.

Either way, my take from this is: If you're feeling pretty down during a jam (or any other thing for that matter) take a some time a way from it and then come back to it later.

Take the time to get yourself in a better place because you're awesome!
